THE BENEFITS OF KARATE TRAINING FOR CHILDREN

The study of karate can be rewarding for children. It teaches physical and mental control. The benefits of physical development are increased flexibility, coordination and muscle tone. The mental development is shown in increased concentration and self-control. By self-control. We mean that the child learns how to prevent emotions from taking over in a difficult situation.

With Karate Club membership, monthly karate lessons are discounted 15%.

Register for the Karate using the Adult Registration form and add children(s) names.

Children who wish to attend only one class per week may go to any of the classes open to their level.

4 hour: Self-Defense Workshop For Everyone!

Saturday, June 14, 2008
1:30 - 5:30 PM
Cost $40
(Includes Scenarios in Self-Defense book)

The workshop, taught by Anita Bendickson, will focus on the three main areas for building personal safety skills:

  1. Prevention.  What steps can be taken in advance to make it hard for an attacker to get close enough to attack.
  2. Avoidance and De-escalation.  This area includes information to help participant learn to recognize a possible attack.  The roles that body language, eye contact, tone of voice and assertiveness can play in averting potential trouble are covered.
  3. Practical Physical Resistance.  This includes simple but powerful striking and kicking actions. Basic information on target areas and practice in learning how to analyze a situation to come up with useful and effective responses.

This class is practical and useful even for people with little physical skill or ability.
